Very well made bat. My son is 9, and has only swung this bat in the cage for Tee work and soft toss (has a Maple bat for live BP). It seems very hard to break. It is fairly well balanced, but bamboo vibrates hard, at least BamBooBats do, so please buy some tape. I bought the 29inch version, but this bat will probably never see a real "game" at bat. It is just too heavy to be used in a game situation for a 9 year old (maybe even 10 year old). There are better Maple or Ash substitutes that would be a better alternative for "game situation". However, if just being used as a cage or practice bat (especially overload and underload drills), this is a great bat! In my opinion, you don't want to go too heavy when choosing the right "cage bat". Too heavy promotes bad habits, as the hitter overcompensates to get the thing through the zone. Bamboo does have a nice "trampoline" effect if hit on the right spot and ball will fly! However the chances of a youth player producing enough bat speed with this bat, are not that great, so YMMV! Great bat for a freakishly strong, large youth player....Really like these bats and have purchased the BBCOR for my older son. Was bummed with this bat because it arrived today scratched and with a dent in the barrel. I know it will get scratched as soon as he uses it but it shouldn’t arrive like this. Can’t tell amazon unless I want to return it. Son needs it now.Very solid, durable bat that is excellent for BP. I found that this particular color/size was priced much lower than the others. At less than twenty bucks, totally worth it! But unless my son gets much stronger, I don't see this as a game bat. Smooth barrel with a rougher, tackier handle. We put a lizard skin grip on it as my son does not prefer a bare handle. Would buy it again.
