I actually purchased this for my daughter in softball. She's a bigger girl and wears a sz 20 in girls, which is a lot harder to find, and she will only wear elastic waists due to sensory issues. I thought I would make things easier on myself and buy boys pants, which are easier to come by in bigger sizes.At the time I purchased, there was a size chart up that listed L as 14/16 (I can no longer find the full size chart listed). Because baseball pants are typically sized for boys, I assumed that meant boys 14/16. I actually thought this sizing was a bit odd because in my experience 10/12 was usually large and 14/16 XL, but I thought maybe their sizing was slightly different. I got the XL, expecting about a size 18 boys, which would have fit sz 20 girls.The good news - she CAN wear it, at least for the duration of a game, because it's elastic waist, but it is tight. I would actually probably put the XL at a girl's 14/16, which is a GIRL'S XL. I wish I had read the reviews more thoroughly before purchasing, because a tight waist seems to be a reoccurring problem.It has, however, held up extremely well - much better than any pants purchased in the past (she's been playing for 5 1/2 years now), and it comes clean beautifully. This is the first pair I've ever bought that didn't wind up with embedded red dirt. If only the sizing were correct, these would be perfect, which is sad because they don't come any bigger.
