It is perfect for toddlers Our five-year-old granddaughter thinks it's very cool, although we haven't been able to do any group play yet because of the pandemic. The ball is very soft and the bat has a thin cushion around it to make it a reasonably safe toy for children.This Franklin Sports Ryan's World Soft Sport Bat and Ball Set - 21 inches is just right for our just 5 yr old step great grandson. He had a ball with it the other day, his 9 and 12 yr old uncles were playing with him and they tried to let him be like a big guy! It was a lot of fun to watch and cheer all 3 on. The bat is not hard, it's a padded bat that is only 21" long and a foam ball both covered in polyurethane-it's cute! Nice gift not expensive though.I got this set for my 3 year old son as his first introduction to baseball, and he absolutely loves it. The bat is of a good size for making hitting the ball easier for him, yet it is very light so it is easy for him to handle. The core of the bat is made of hard plastic and it is covered by soft vinyl. The ball’s outer layer is made of the same vinyl as the bat, and inside is soft, fluffy stuffing, making the ball squishy and very soft. I feel great knowing that my son can enjoy learning to play baseball but he won’t hurt himself or others with this age appropriate set.The set is well made, with strong stitching. The bat and the ball both come with tags but they are easy to remove. After a week of play, both pieces feel and look like new, minus a few scuff marks on the bat.My son and I are both very happy with this set. It’s a great way to introduce the little ones to baseball/softball while keeping them safe.I've been struggling to find something for my 3 yr old to do. She cried at dance and swim lessons. She isn't fast enough for soccer, but she loves playing with this set and I have to say... she can hit the ball!!! This is making me want to go out and buy her all sorts of stuff for tball. This is just a soft set. My daughter is a huge Ryans World fan... I am not.
